I will give this a 5 for excellent effort. Looks easy for a beginner to use (I am not a beginner). I really would like to try out the ability to have the functionality that the Super Deluxe Budget has (maybe this i something you can include in the starter budget with a 3 day timer or something similar for people to purchase if they want the continued functionality). I have been using different apps to track my expenses.But i needed something simple with more command on my hand while setting budget and expenses categories. I tried simple budget excel template and i love it. I feel more control on my expenses now.

Reason i give only 4 star is because of two reason.1) this template support only with limited sources like can not use on my mac as i have different version of excel. 2)does not support multiple device at the time. But overall the template is very easy to use and user friendly. I love how simple yet detailed this spreadsheet is. I’m good with excel, but it would take me hours to make something worthwhile and I’m sure it wouldn’t be near as pretty.

It’s well laid out and easy to read, I plan on buying the super deluxe version for even more detail. It has easy to follow instructions that can be turned on or off. I tried to find something more automatic (like mint.com) but it’s really hard to get away from a manual process.

Besides, I like the accountability of having to enter each of our expenses. It makes me feel like I have more of a handle on what’s going out and will help us make better spending choices in the future. Hi Tracey, I’m sorry the template isn’t working for you! I’ll need some information to figure out exactly what the problem is. Usually when this happens it’s because the month is not recognized based on how the dates are entered.

If you click on the “Show Month” button on the Expenses tab, you can see if the month is being recognized (i.e. It should say “AUG 2015”). If this column does not show the proper month, the formula in there was overwritten and I can fix it for you. I have tried many times to create a home budget on Excel, but I spend so much time typing in fields, and moving things around because I have so little knowledge of formulas, and macros. These spreadsheets have all of that down for you so all you need to do it enter the names 1 time, and amount each month. The only thing I would add would be a way to roll the amount from the previous month into the current month, maybe in the income section. This is overall a good product, and I plan you use it weekly to stay on top of my bills.
